On some subjects, where the largest audience is in e.g., Brazil, Spain or Latin America, the Observer publishes articles in Portuguese, Spanish, or another language.
To read these article in English, in Google translation (which is surprisingly good), click on the link to the article in the foreign language. When that page comes up, copy the web address (URL) in the address bar for that page, then click on “Google Translate” at the bottom of the post. When the Google translate box comes up, paste the web address (URL) into the box on the left, and select the language of the original text on the left, and the target language (English) on the right. Then click the Translate button, and you will see the page (and article) in English.
This same procedure can be used to translate any of the previous articles published in Portuguese, Spanish or another language.
To translate the original text into a language other than English, simply choose a different target language in the box on Google translate page, select the target language, and click on the Translate button.
More simply, if you want to view the entire site in a language other than English, go to “translate.google.com” and then type “www.trenchantobserver.com” in the box on the left for the original language, select your target language, and then click Translate. The site will appear in the target language.
