All the evidence suggests that the gruesome murder of Jamal Khashoggi within the Saudi consulate in Istanbul was premeditated, and carried out on the instructions of or with the approval of the highest authorities in the Kingdom.
For two weeks the Saudis maintained that Khashoggi had left the consulate under his own power.
Up until now, they have not explained why 15 Saudi agents flew to Istanbul, went to the consulate while Khashoggi was there, and then flew out of the country, all on October 2, 2018, or how this operation could have been carried out without the knowledge of the highest Saudi authorities.
Their latest account, that Khashoggi was accidentally killed in a scuffle in the consulate, is a gross insult to the intelligence of all observers and analysts.
Where is the body?
That the crown prince made Khashoggi’s son shake his hand in front of the cameras was unforgivably grotesque.
The bloom is off.
America and Americans will never again regard Saudi Arabia and its rulers as they did before.
Some murders are never forgotten. This is one of those.
