In 2018, if not long before, it became abundantly clear that Republicans are willing to resort to any tactic to cling to their diminishing power, regardless of how such tactics violate the rules of the democratic game.
Now in Wisconsin, earlier in North Carolina, they have moved to strip incoming democratic governors of the powers of their office.
To these manoevres, one must add voter suppression efforts in Georgia and other states.
One can only appeal to the brighter lights in the party to return to playing by the rules of democracy.
Otherwise, politics in America will continue its march towarrd the zero-sum politics that are more commonly found in places like Venezuela.

It is also a sad commentary on the current state of the American press to note that almost none of the stories on what the Republicans are doing in Wisconsin make any reference to what they have done in North Carolina. Desdlines drive the media, leaving little room for context or reflection.
